

R-devel uses Rtools42, where the build tools are from Msys2 and QPDF. R and packages are built using Rtools, which is a collection of build tools, a compiler toolchain, headers and pre-compiled static libraries. Specific R packages may require additional external software. Inno Setup is (only) needed for building R installer, not R packages.

One needs MikTeX (with basic packages and inconsolata) to build package vignettes and documentation. External software for building from source
